The home on Barton Court had plush cut pile carpet in two areas, and the wear showed where it always does first: the walking lanes. Rather than full-room cleaning, the homeowner asked us to concentrate on those traffic paths. There were pet urine spots to address in the carpet, one stain flagged at the walkthrough, and a polyester blend sofa in the same part of the house that had picked up water rings. Three small kitchen rugs were set aside for cleaning as well.

We worked the two traffic paths through the plush pile, treating the pet urine spots and the single flagged stain directly before moving through the lanes. The three kitchen rugs were cleaned separately. On the sofa, the polyester blend upholstery was cleaned throughout with the water rings given individual attention so the edges would not stand apart from the surrounding fabric once dry.

With the cleaning finished, carpet protector went down on the cleaned areas and fabric protector was applied to the sofa. Protector gives spills a little more time to sit on the surface before they reach the fiber, which matters on plush cut pile and on a sofa that sees daily use. The visit — two areas, three kitchen rugs, one sofa, both protectors — came to $210.
