About this job
A Williams Way house carried carpet through six areas, with the staircase and landings tying the floors together — 27 steps in all. Stair runs and the traffic lanes connecting rooms had taken on the dull, packed-down look that comes from everyday foot traffic rather than any single spill. The homeowner wanted the whole carpeted footprint handled in one visit, including the steps and the landings at the top and bottom, instead of spot-treating a room at a time.
Work started with a thorough vacuuming of every area to pull out dry soil before any moisture went down. Each room and the full stair run were then pretreated and cleaned with hot-water extraction, working the stairs tread by tread and riser by riser so the edges and nosings weren't skipped. The landings were treated as their own areas rather than folded into the stair count.
To finish, the technician went back over the carpet with a CRB — a counter-rotating brush machine — scrubbing to lift embedded soil out of the base of the pile and agitate the fibers so they stood back up. That step is where the traffic lanes stopped reading as a separate shade from the rest of the room. Total for the six areas, the 27 stairs and the CRB work came to $559.

Scope of work
Questions about carpet cleaning in Vernon Hills
Stairs are billed per step, not as a room. This Williams Way job came to 27 steps, with the landings at the top and bottom handled as separate carpeted areas.
A counter-rotating brush machine agitates the pile mechanically, loosening soil packed down at the base of the fibers so extraction can pull it out. It also leaves the pile standing upright rather than matted in traffic lanes.
Carpet is left damp, not wet, and dries through normal air movement. Keeping air circulating in the house and limiting foot traffic over the stairs while they dry helps the process along.
